Background…
In the fall of 2009, the Lord began to lay on Sal Leone’s heart that our local Church needed to reach out to the families in need in our area. He began to pray and ask the Lord what we could do to minister to them. Right away, he had the thought of a feeding ministry where we could provide a meal but more importantly, share the gospel and feed them spiritually. When Sal spoke to Pastor Swint about the burden on his heart, the pastor shared with him how that the Miamisburg Ministerial Association had just asked if our church could take one week out of the month to provide a Community Dinner. Within two months Sal had the board approval and the support of the congregation to launch the ministry.
About our name…
After receiving approval from the pastors and board to launch this ministry Sal was meditating on the Book of Ruth of how Boaz left the edges of the field for the needy in his community to come and glean. Also, in Leviticus 19, the LORD commanded them to leave the corners for the poor. Thus the name, Corners and Edges Community Dinner was birthed.
The results…
Corners and Edges Community Dinner is a win-win every time. People in the congregation think of others, give of themselves and people in the community can count on a good hot meal while hearing the Word of God and receiving prayer. From the very first dinner when a man gave his life to the Lord until now, Corners and Edges Community Dinner is reaching people with the love of Christ.
