Understanding Our Worship

  • We Clap Our Hands and Shout Because:

"O clap your hands all ye people, shout unto God with a voice of triumph." Psalm 47:1

  • We Lift Our Hands Because:

"Thus I will bless Thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in Thy name." Psalm 63:4

  • We have Audible Praise Unto God Because:

"Through Him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the  fruit of lips that confess thanks to His name." Hebrews 13:15

  • We Sing Choruses As Well As Hymns Because:

"...but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord." Ephesians 5:18-19

  • We Anoint With Oil & Pray For the Sick Because:

"Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." James 5:14

  • We Audibly Pray for Each Others Needs Because:

"Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 18:19

  • The Church Prays in Concert Because:

"And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, Thou art God, which hast made heaven and earth." Acts 4:24

  • We Have Manifestations of Gifts of the Holy Spirit Because:

"But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good...word of wisdom...word of knowledge...faith...gifts of healings...effecting of miracles...prophecy… distinguishing of spirits...tongues… interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things distributing to each one individually just as He wills." 1 Corinthians 12:7-11

  • Other forms of acceptable worship include:

Leaping and Praising God

"And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God." Acts 3:8

Dancing

"And David danced before the Lord with all his might…" 2 Samuel 6:14 "And Miriam the prophetess,...took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances." Exodus 15:20

Ultimately, we believe that in worship we should:

"Let all things be done decently and in order." 1 Corinthians 14:40
